The latest development from Walter Cut is a geometry for the main field of application in parting off operations. Walter will be recommending the geometry trio CF6, CF5 and CE4 for parting off applications. The CF6 and CE4 geometries have been available for about 2 years in the Walter Cut range. CF6 provides a very sharp and positively designed cutting edge for low feed rates, and CE4 is trimmed to bring you maximum stability and high feed rates. CF5 geometry is a recent development for the medium feed range. This chip breaker closes the gap between the two mentioned above. With the CF5, you will be able to cover approx. 60% of all parting off applications.
The Walter Cut toolholder system ensemble includes stable monoblock toolholders for doubleedged grooving inserts with classifications G1011 and XLDE. The XLDE for cutting insert size GX16 (16mm in length) is ideal for small part production. It was designed especially for use on machines with linear units. Other toolholder systems include deep-cutting blades with single-use four-point self clamping, classified as G1042, and toughened parting blades with screw clamping, classified as G1041.
Maximum performance and grooving insert tool life is ensured for all geometries with the two cutting material qualities WSM33 and WSP43 from the Tiger.tec? family, with their PVD aluminium oxide coating. The main feature of these cutting tool materials is their high level of toughness combined with excellent wear resistance, desirable for parting off operations. They are suited to all materials in metal cutting.
