GERMAN manufacturers offer themselves as powerful partners for the expansion of China's industry. Their advanced technology and the variety of their products, which are optimally tailored to the specific customer requirements, strengthen the economic performance of Chinese manufacturers. Many German companies are represented in China via agencies, subsidiaries and own production facilities.
The German pavilion at ProPak China 2013, consisting of 11participants, is an excellent possibility to meet the leading manufacturers in food processing and packaging machinery technology. The Pavilion is presented by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA).
With a population of 1.3 billion people, China is one of the world's largest sales markets for food and beverages. The demand of modern Chinese consumers for quality and hygiene in food is rising and will generate a substantial change in purchasing habits over the next years. Food safety and control are becoming an increasingly important competitive advantage for companies in the branch. In order to remain competitive companies must take the increased quality and safety requirements into account by modernization and the investment into new food processing and packaging equipment.

The Chinese food processing and packaging machinery industry has expanded its production capacities over the past years. Despite a considerable increase in the supply provided by the local food processing and packaging machinery industry, there is a high demand for foreign machinery featuring state-of-the-art technology to meet the requirements of the end user industries. The developments within the end user branches have an effect on the demand for food processing packaging machinery that cannot be met exclusively out of China’s production.
The Chinese market has considerable growth potential for the German manufacturer of food processing and packaging machinery. In 2011, the German companies delivered food processing and packaging machinery amounting to €523 million to China. The country was the second largest single sales market for the German manufacturer in 2011 behind the USA, and in Asia it is the largest sales market for food processing and packaging machinery “Made in Germany”.
