Wine makers from Germany took home more than 90 awards at the recently concluded Decanter Asia Wine Awards in Hong Kong. German wines were honoured with 5 gold, 24 silver and 39 bronze medals plus 26 recommendations for wines. Amongst winners are: Weingut Anselmann (Pflaz) who won the German Sweet Regional Trophy for its 2011 Ortega Trockenbeerenauslese; Weingut Louis Guntrum (Rheinhessen) received the Gold Best Value distinction for 2011 Louis Riesling; and Weingut Dr. Loosen (Mosel) was presented with the Silver Best Value distinction for its Dr. L. Riesling. The following each received a Gold: Weingut J. J. Prüm (Mosel), Balthasar Ress (Rheingau), and Weingut Künstler (Rheingau).
The newly launched competition which is tailored to the Asian market gave out a total 35 regional trophies, 43 gold medals, 382 silver medals and 888 bronze medals as well as 550 recommendations were awarded to the 2,249 wines entered in the competition.
