GLOBAL Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and the Chinese government through the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) have inked a new agreement aimed at speeding up food safety development.
The agreement is part of GFSI’s commitment to lead the drive for food safety in the local, regional, and global sectors, according to a report by the Food Industry Asia.
GFSI is also working with the China Nutrition and Health Food Association (CNHFA) in providing continuous improvement in food safety management systems in line with addressing food safety issues locally. The agreements in this partnership include translating GFSI’s global mission into concrete cooperation plans for local implementation.
The collaboration between GFSI and the CNHFA will enable the two to set up a network for sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices on food safety between companies and authorities. The partnership also covers capacity building and education.
Besides establishing self-disciplinary mechanisms, GFSI and CNHFA hope to introduce best-practices methods for food safety management with HACCP. They also aim to develop GFSI standards toward unifying food safety requirements between food purchasers and manufacturers.
