G&M Compliance, Inc. of Orange, CA (G&M) and China Certification Centre for Automotive Products (CCAP) recently met with Chrysler, Ford, GM, and Tesla to discuss CCC certification to allow U.S. car companies to sell into China.
G&M has partnered with CCAP, which specializes in automotive testing, to find an alternate option in ensuring entry into the China market. The meeting aimed to discuss how the partnership can help ensure a consistent and efficient process to get automobiles into the China market within a reasonable time frame.
Currently the largest growing market for U.S. automakers, China requires individual certification by Chinese certification bodies for all automobiles being imported into the country, including a number of internal components. The entire automobile and automotive parts must undergo testing in an approved test lab and comply with applicable Chinese regulations.
Upon the successful completion of the testing, the factories where the parts originate will be audited by the certification body. This initial inspection will be followed by annual checks by certification body representatives.
The certification process can prove to be a daunting task for North American car manufacturers what with the language barrier, changing requirements, and dealing with foreign governments. Most manufacturers therefore rely on the largest certification body in China for their certifications.
G&M Compliance, which has been involved in obtaining Chinese certifications for manufacturers for more than 10 years, has been focusing on the auto industry for the past eight years. Its team of CCC experts located in both the U.S. and China provides assistance in test planning, custom clearance, and factory inspections.
