ForCHINAPLAS 2016 in Shanghai, Arburg brought its Golden Electric machine series. Shown for the first time in Asia, one of these Allrounder injection molding machines is demonstrated producing a "pill splitter" for the medical technology sector on Stand E1G01 in Hall E1. An interesting aspect: the same part will also be additively manufactured on a Freeformer exhibit.
Presentation of the new electric Allrounder is a perfect choice for the deliberate focus on high-end plastic technology at the CHINAPLAS. The injection molding machines of the Golden Electric series feature proven, high-quality Arburg technology "Made in Germany" at an attractive price/performance ratio. This is made possible by standardized components, such as a fixed combination of distance between tie-bars, clamping force and injection unit size.
The new Allrounder Golden Electric comes in the four sizes 370, 470, 520 and 570 with clamping forces of 600, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 kN. With the electric machine series, Arburg is continuing the success story of the hydraulic entry-level Allrounder Golden Edition series. Both are designed to meet customer demands for high-performance entry-level machines for the precise, production-efficient manufacture of complex moulded parts.
The Golden Electric machine series is the ideal choice for standard applications in thermoplastic processing, such as technical injection molding. Seamless integration in the Arburg product range is assured through universal machine sizes and dimensions, as well as the practical combination of high energy efficiency and broader performance characteristics.
Performance and correspondingly high-speed cycles are assured primarily by the double five-point toggle system and the high-precision, play-free spindle drives. The position-regulated screw enables cavities to be filled with a high degree of repeat accuracy, ensuring high moulded part quality.
Liquid-cooled motors and servo inverters play to their strengths with regard to energy efficiency, short dry cycle times and a high level of reproducibility. The high efficiency of the servo motors, continuous power adaptation and energy recovery during braking achieve energy savings of up to 55 percent compared to hydraulic standard machines. Another positive factor is that the machines are also easy to maintain thanks to swivelling injection units, plug-in cylinder modules and further enhanced lubrication and cooling.
An electric Allrounder 470 E with a clamping force of 1,000 kN and an 8-cavity mould is shown at the Arburg booth producing pill splitters made from PC for medical use. The cycle time is around 25 seconds and the part weight is 18 grams. Thanks to their combination of high precision, speed and low emissions, these new electric injection molding machines are ideally suited to the production of medical technology items.

Success in the China market.
2015 was an extremely successful year for the international Arburg Group. According to Toni Tong, Managing Director of Arburg China, "Our machine warehouse contributed significantly to our success. As the Allrounder machines only require customization here, delivery times are accordingly short. We will continue to expand on what is a decisive advantage for our customers, and appropriately ramp up our warehouse capacities in 2016."
Arburg's Team China has also grown, and now boasts 78 employees. Of these, 30 work in Service and 11 in Application Technology. "However, the team has not only grown in number – we have above all also further enhanced our expertise, e.g. through systematic training courses at the German headquarters in Lossburg and on-site. As a result, our customers not only benefit from high-quality machine technology, but also from up-to-date, comprehensive and expert knowledge regarding application technology, production efficiency and automation," Mr. Tong adds.
