Annual plastics production of the Gulf countries is projected to rise by as much as 46% annually to hit 155 million tonnes by 2015. This is a substantial increase from the 105 million tonnes recorded in 2010, according to a study commissioned by Expo Centre Sharjah. With demand from emerging markets, annual global requirements for plastics is set to rise by 5% and Gulf countries are in a position to account for a bigger share of the market, according to the study. Output of the global plastics market is $180 billion in 2011, whilst the plastic industry in the Middle East is projected to grow annually by 30%.
Given this scenario, Expo Centre Sharjah, in association with the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) and DEMAT GmbH, has launched a new trade show - Plastivision Arabia 2012 and ArabiaMold - which is aimed at serving the regional downstream plastics industry. The international plastics exhibition and conference and ArabiaMold will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from 14 - 17 May 2012.
