Halal food products in Dubai to carry smart logo

HALAL food products sold in Dubai will be tagged with a smart logo to guarantee authenticity. Consumers can easily verify the halal certification by using a mobile app, reported Sajila Saseendran in Gulf News.

The smart logo is familiar as it is Dubai’s UAE National Halal Mark. It will soon be digitized to allow consumers to scan the logo to access product information. The move will reduce the risks of potential fraud.

The Dubai Municipality partnered with SICPA, the Swiss company which will utilize its SICPATRACE® track & trace system for this purpose. The security expert will provide the smart logo to halal food producers and the mobile app for consumers.

The authentication will be in applied six months from now. The report also said the mobile app for the consumers and the inspection device for inspectors will be launched after the implementation of the smart logo in the market.
