Han's leads China laser industry

Han's Laser is one of the world's leading manufacturers of professional laser equipments. Founded in 1996, Han's Laser has strived hard and grown at a remarkable rate to be the flagship of China's national laser industry.
International Metalworking News Asia (IMNA) spoke to Mr. Zhang Hongxin, General Manager for Marketing at Han's Laser Technology Co. Ltd about the company's experiences operating in China and its marketing strategies.

IMNA: Han's Laser is well-known in Chinese laser industry, can you brief the company and what kind of products do you produce?
Mr. Zhang: Currently, Han's Laser dominates the lion's share of the laser equipments market and has been elected by Forbes as one of the "100 Most Promising Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs)" no less than three times, and we have achieved a sales revenue of US$564 million in 2011.

We have a great range of laser product series, including laser marking series, laser cutting series, laser welding series, laser sub-surface engraving series, and so on. All these equipment are widely applied in industries, like electronic appliances, integrated circuits, telecommunication equipments, computes, glass and optical units, construction materials, medical devices, jewelleries, packaging materials, crafts, clothing and urban illumination. The use of laser technology has made manufacturing and our life much simpler and more convenient. As the engine of growth in China's laser industry, Han's Laser provides great importance to scientific research, which furthers the development of laser technology.

IMNA: What influence has the company's own technology and expertise made?
Mr. Zhang: Laser technology is widely used in many fields and industries; for example automotive, LED, new energy, battery and sheet metal. We focus on the study of two points: one is the laser itself, and the other is its application areas. Han's Laser pays much attention to R&D; the number of our R&D staff is roughly equal to the number of our marketing staff. We have a strong R&D team consisting of a high number of academic experts and engineers. This outstanding team has achieved several US registered patents, more than 70 national invention patents, and dozens of software copyrights.
What's more, at the end of November 2011, our 15000W Fibre Laser Welding System - the highest power in China - came into use and solved many thick plate welding problems, globally. The system is the first machine in the world that could weld 18mm stainless steel.
 In addition, Han's Laser together with Beihang University (BUAA), built the "Laser Technology and Automation Application" laboratory in May 2011. This partnership does not only help promote the application of laser technology in the field of aerospace, but also train the people, who can bring new development opportunities to the company.

IMNA: What are the major selling points of your equipment?
