High-performance elastomers for automobile and cable applications

CUSTOMIZED specialty silicones rubber were presented by Bluestar Silicones at Chinaplas 2015 for the automobile and wire & cable fields as well as food contact and medical device applications. Highlighted in particular were BLUESIL™ MF 7471 U FR for high thermal resistant cables used in the railway vehicles and new BLUESIL™ MF 9200 series high-performance elastomers for sealing in automotive application.

 

A low smoke halogen free-flame retardant silicones rubber used for the railway vehicles, BLUESIL MF 7471 U FR is differentiated from traditional silicone rubber by its combined platinum flame-retardant technology and special flame-retardant additive for the silicone rubber to maintain the high-strength of mechanical property, hydrophobic property and insulating property while achieving the high fire resistance.

 

With the development of China high-speed railways towards the north and other high and cold areas, the minimum operating temperature reaches -40℃ while the railway generate the extremely high temperature during the high-speed operation. Tests with MF 7471 U FR high thermal silicones rubber indicate that the specialty silicone rubber has excellent low and high temperature resistance properties, flexibility and mechanical strength between -60℃ and 250℃.

 

TUV certified as fully compliant with the technical requirements of EU EN50382, this product has been successfully applied in the power system insulation of motor as the core component of high-speed railways, and well recognized by the world’s largest cable company.

 

Specially designed for ensuring sufficient sealing of under the hood application for automotive, BLUESIL MF 9200 series possess the outstanding low compression set for recoverable deformation after the long-term use. The wide application of automotive turbocharger technology and the sustainable improvement of fuel efficiency nowadays have led to the demanding requirements for high thermal resistance of engine.

 

With the excellent high thermal resistance, MF 9200 products are still able to maintain the excellent mechanical property at the high temperature of 250℃ under the extremely hard conditions. In addition, under the aging test conditions of hot oil for ASTM Type 901 and 903 of the United States Standard, The products also have the mature and wide applications in the cylinder liner gasket sealing of automotive engine, O ring, automotive rubber hose and others thanks to their excellent mechanical properties of low compression set, heat resistance and oil resistance.

 

In addition to silicones solutions in high thermal cable of railway vehicles and for oil sealing in automotive, Bluestar Silicones also provides a series of silicone elastomers with high purity and transparency used in the fields of food contact (such as the pacifier for infants), kitchenware and medical devices. Such products have passed the permission and certification of U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and reached the standard requirements of ISO10993 for medical equipment.
