ONE of the highlights of this year’s TOKYO PACK is the Next Generation High Performance Packaging Pavilion, which will feature breakthrough packaging solutions that take extended product shelf life to new levels, highlight environmentally-friendly packages, and new decoration and print technology solutions.
Pouch with a sprout
For liquid food as well as drinks, a container with a sprout makes pouring more convenient. ECODPACK Co. Ltd, a company from Japan, offers a sprout-integrated pouch that not only offers convenience, but is significantly lightweight, and therefore saves the company on raw material usage. More importantly, it is designed to prevent air (and therefore protect the product) from entering the pouch which normally occurs when the bottle is squeezed to release the contents. Users will find that dispensing of content from the ECODPACK pouch will not cause clogging of solid food particles.
New reclosable bubble solution
First-time exhibitor, PopPack LLC from the USA will demonstrate its special reclosable PopPack bubble solution at the Packaging Pavilion. The product makes opening and resealing flexible packages easily, and a “popping” sound alerts the user that the package contents are fresh, well-sealed and have not been tampered with. The company hopes to look for business partners in Japan for this new product.
Overcoming language barrier and other visitor-friendly features
To facilitate communication, organisers of TOKYO PACK 2014 will install booths where English-speaking aides will be able to assist non-Japanese speaking overseas visitors. Show visitors need only look for “English speaker available” sign, and at these areas, business discussions can comfortably take place in English.
In addition, staff at the “Foreign Visitor” desk (International Lounge) will be ready to assist participants with any enquiries, and guide them to exhibits showcasing the packaging solutions and technologies they are sourcing for.
TOKYO PACK takes place from 7-10 October at the Tokyo Big Sight, East Hall 1-6. Over 70,000 visitors from Japan and overseas are expected to participate at this biennial event, which is owned and operated by the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI). It will feature more than 2,600 booths representing 654 companies. The previous edition attract more than 170,000 people.
