MAPLE GROVE, MN – The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared r4 Vascular’s high pressure Vector percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) balloon catheters. The catheters will be used for the treatment of vascular narrowings lesions and blockages. Patent for the catheters is still pending. The Vector PTA balloon catheters are available in 28 sizes, and can withstand up to 30 atmospheres of pressure and are radiopaque when deflated or inflated.
High-pressure PTA balloons are used to keep hemodialysis access sites open for dialysis treatments, to restore blood flow in the legs, to dilate narrowings in renal arteries, and to dilate lesions in other blood vessels. r4 Vascular’s balloons utilize catheter shaft technology to achieve these.
