The highly successful TaipeiPlas 2012 wraps up on September 25. A bigger edition, the show featured the exhibits of 475 companies, 13.4% higher than in the 2010 show. The exhibitors occupied 2,310 booths, up by 9.4%, covering a total of 46,175 sq.m. Preliminary figures as of September 24 showed that over 10,820 visitors registered with 8,784 local and 2,036 foreign.
The show featured the innovations of many Taiwanese machinery manufacturers who are now closely monitoring and following worldwide trends towards energy-saving and environment-friendly solutions to plastics processing.
New services and features were added in this recent edition. One-on-one procurement meetings were scheduled with delegates from emerging markets. There were more than 270 one-on-one meetings with over 70 Taiwanese exporters this year. According to surveys completed after the meetings, new business created was expected to reach US$113.36 million.
Another important event is the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Taiwan and Turkey where TAITRA and Turkey’s industry association, PAGEV, have agreed to work closely together in the future to further bilateral business relations and encourage cross-border exchanges between the Taiwanese plastics and rubber industry and its Turkish counterpart.
The TaipeiPlas 2012 Awards for Excellence in Research and Innovation gave recognition to the efforts of manufacturers in their bid to bring the best products for their customers. A new category was created, the Product Awards for Industrial Design, as a reflection of the need for the exhibition to cater to emerging industry trends and demands.
