Hurco-DKSH collaborative open house in Ho Chi Minh

Source:International Metalworking News Release Date:2016-04-26 768
Metalworking
CNC machine tool builder Hurco in cooperation with its Vietnam distributor DKSH Technology Co. Ltd conducted an open house at DKSH’s newest high-precision centre in Bihn Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is also a celebration of Hurco and DKSH’s four years of collaboration.

During the opening speech, Alexander Kliegl, Managing Director of DKSH Technology, said the open house is a knowledge exchange platform that can be used as an opportunity to make educated decisions to grow ones business.

Wai Yip Lee, General Manager at Hurco (South East Asia) Pte Ltd, said the event is a demonstration of what Hurco can do for its customers. Wai Yip mentioned the new Hurco MAX5 control console, which is designed and built for machinists. The MAX5 control is showcased on the popular VM20i and VMX24Mi machining centres. The MAX5 is the epitome of user-centric design, put together by Hurco and tested by customers with varying levels of experience. Their input during multiple usability tests resulted in 80 improvements to the design and functionality of the MAX5 control console. In the design world, it’s called ergonomics and usability but for Hurco they call it common sense.

Attendees witnessed a live demonstration of Hurco latest software feature: AdaptiPath™on the VMX24Mi 3-axis machining centre. AdaptiPath™, a conversational pocketing feature found mainly in high-end CAD/CAM packages, increases metal removal rates and reduces cycle time. In a separate demonstration, a 3D mold programmed from MasterCAM showcased the superior motion control and surface finish achieved by Hurco Ultimotion technology. Also seen at the open house were two other Hurco machines, the VM20i machining center with Blum Z-Nano Tool Probe, and the VM10U Compact 5-axis machining center.

Featured workshops

The Hurco Ultimotion Control Technology, which is a software-based motion control system that is wholly owned by Hurco. The secret to UltiMotion is the advanced algorithm software that takes the load off the motion control board (hardware-based motion control). The software-based motion control system of UltiMotion has rapid cornering capabilities, which means it doesn’t stop between two rapids. Instead, it travels through blended corners at high speed with negligible deviation. With UltiMotion, the software evaluates each section of the motion profile and shifts the look-ahead to the maximum number of blocks to optimise maneuvers.

Charles Tay – Deputy Managing Director of EROWA talked about how companies can adopt and implement EROWA’s Flexible Manufacturing Concept or FMC. It EROWA’s FMC Concept simplifies manufacturing processes and extracts the greatest possible benefit from modern production technologies by adopting the 4 stages; namely – Standardization, Organization, Automation & Integration. Standing one‘s ground in a climate of competitive environment means satisfying more requirements in terms of quality. With reduced margins, an enterprise must still be able to generate appropriate profits in order to remain competitive and have a competitive edge against their competitions. In addition, it must be able to respond quickly to customers’ demands effectively with regard to lead times and design.

Candy Ong, Managing Director, Blum Production Metrology Pte Ltd said the importance of design and user-friendliness has grown massively in the development of new machine tools. And with this Blum aims to offer integrated solutions for many controllers to meet every expectation. BLUM specialists have made great progress in developing high-precision measurement on standard plane surfaces, such as connecting rod holes and cylinder bores, sealing surfaces or bearing seats. The company is currently the only measuring equipment manufacturer in the world to offer roughness measurement solutions that are fully suitable for use with machine tools.

Value-added General Purpose CNC machine

The VM20i is a part of the VM series of 3-axis machining centers that features a small footprint with a large work cube. No other mill packs as much productivity into such an efficiently designed package. The Hurco VM CNC vertical milling machines offer powerful machining with a compact footprint, and absolutely the best value on the market. The VM series CNC machining centers are the perfect combination of size and functionality. Designed to conserve space with the smallest possible footprint, the VM mills are loaded with remarkably big capacity, productivity and user flexibility.

Mid-range machining center

Hurco's mid-range VMX24Mi is a part of its signature line of VMX machining centers that takes machining to the next level. This machine with big capabilities in a small, delivers high-performance capabilities to any machining application. Whether you are doing batch production or die/mould work, the VMX mills will make you more profitable.
