Unleash the Power of 5 is the main theme of the recent Hurco Open House exhibition in Singapore. Several new machines have been brought in to the demonstration area specifically for this event. Notable speakers include Mike Cope, 5-axis expert and author of the CNC Machinist Blog, as well as Dr Geng Lin of SIMTech who presented the topic: "Integrating Process Planning for 5-Axis Machining." In addition, workshop sessions and booth displays featured Erowa SEA, Renishaw, Techtown, MMC Hardmetal and Idemitsu Lube. The event is seen as an opportunity to bring existing customers up to date with the latest software developments, whilst showcasing the control flexibility to business owners viewing the Hurco range for the first time.
Charles Tay, Managing Director of Erowa Singapore quips, "The first element of EROWA’s FMC Concept is Standardisation – which offers standardise tooling and workholding system. The second element is Automation because nowadays, skilled workers are hard to find, so many companies are moving towards automating their machining processes through automation. The third element is Organisation and this entails the measuring processes and the pre-setting processes to ensure high quality and repeatability are achieved. The fourth element is Integration, and this is where EROWA’s software comes in. Software is the heart of the most engineering processes. It's the driver of the entire manufacturing processes."
"On a whole I think Hurco has organised the Open House very successful in the way that they have invited some industry partners to be part of the show," continues Tay. "It provides customers who visited this event the total concept of not only advance machines, but tooling and workholding system, cutting tools and cutting accessories as well."
Tay believes that the role of Erowa is to help equip Hurco machines with their tooling and workholding systems so that the customers could reduce set up time and maximise their production which leads to higher productivity.
"This is a win-win collaboration between Erowa, Hurco and the customers," says Tay of the event. Meeting with all of the suppliers, Tay believes, is the first step towards a successful partnership. The advantage of the Hurco-Erowa partnership in this event is that customers aren't just offered one service/product – they get a total solution & concept; Tay adds, "Customers know that they can get everything resolved with us – from the tooling to the workholding and the machines. Hurco's new five-axis machine has revolutionised the way machines are built. Coupled with the tooling and workholding system by Erowa, we can offer the total concept and solution to the customers."
