Hurco SEA invited customers to its new Toh Guan Centre facility for the Singapore Budget 2014 Highlights Seminar. The budget 2014 highlights were presented by Ms. Pearly Koh, Director of Ace Business Consultancy. Customers took the opportunity to network and catch the new design TM6i and VMX24Mi machines on display.

Hurco believes that their job is to make customers more profitable by creating machine tools that help solve their problems. International Metalworking News for Asia was able to interview two customers during the customer exclusive event. They shared to us how Hurco machines assisted their companies to make smarter decisions that result in better products.

Regional Test Services

Home-grown company, Regional Test Services (RTS), was founded over twenty years ago in 1992 with the intention of helping customers achieve and maintain their ISO 9000 and QS 9000 statuses, all while improving the product and reducing cost through the company’s effective calibration recall system.

In 2004, Regional Test Services expanded to include manufacturing and engineering for a variety of different clients. The company currently operates a state of the art production floor in Bedok Industrial Estate that is filled with innovative manufacturing machines that are operated by adept machinists and seasoned quality control experts. The company’s variety of clients give Regional Test Services a challenge of finding the right machines to complete the given tasks.

In 2008, the year that Regional Test Services achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, the company integrated their first Hurco machine into their production floor. They were working with a client from the aerospace industry and they needed to cut titanium, a very difficult material to work with. They found that their existing machines did not perform the task well enough.

“We were having difficulty and it as then that we bought a Hurco machine to tackle the problem. It worked very well,” says the Managing Director of RTS. “We were very happy because our new Hurco machine was able to do the job. We have been using the same machine for the task ever since.”

From then on, Regional Test Services went on to purchase several more Hurco machines to improve the quality and efficiency of their manufacturing processes. Currently, they have five Hurco machines operating on their production floor.

Bryan Ng, Operation Manager of Regional Test Services has worked with the machines first hand and believes that the quality, speed, and efficiency of Hurco machines have been improving year to year. This allows Regional Test Services to be more productive and more competitive.

Says Ng, “The first machines that we bought from Hurco were very good. But the latest machines have improved further. The performance of the machine, right down to the finishing has been enhanced.”

The production floor at Perfect Technology is comprised of a slew of varied modern machines, including five state-of-the-art Hurco machines. Perfect Technology’s Director, PP Kalai, says that the company has been using Hurco machines since the company set up shop; almost a decade.

The company invested their first Hurco machine in 2005. Upon implementation, Kalai was very impressed with how easy to use the machines were. The simple user interface proved to be easy to teach to the staff at Perfect Technology, which in turn increased Perfect Technology’s productivity.

“In addition to the good price,” says Kalai.” The applications of the machines are quite easy to understand and the programming software isn’t difficult to navigate. We were especially pleased to find that it was easy to train our staff to use the machines, which is very important to us.”

Perfect Technology continues to upgrade their production floor with newer, more advanced Hurco machines. Kalai explains that the implementation of the new machines has proved to be very smooth. Last year, Perfect Technology purchased two machines, and they were pleasantly surprised with the upgraded technology which allowed for increased productivity. Kalai especially appreciated the updated programing language which was even easier to use than the previous Hurco machines he had worked with. He says that the newer technology allows for faster production.

“There is always continuous improvement of the machines that is something that you can’t deny. The updates to the machines have definitely improved our productivity. The machines keep on going better and better” added Kalai.
