IFBTA formed to serve food, beverage industry segments

THE International Food and Beverage Technology Association (IFBTA) was formed to serve the food and beverage industry, including the restaurant, lodging, travel, C-store, gaming/casino, theme park, on-site, retail, and healthcare sectors. The association was announced on 19 May at the Celebration of Technology held during the National Restaurant Show in Chicago by Robert Grimes, Foodservice Industry technology evangelist and entrepreneur and co-founder of Food Sales Technology Conference & Showcase (FSTEC). He serves as first CEO and president of the new association.

The IFBTA will offer products and services for members in both the operator and supplier communities, extending support in particular in the areas of education, professional certification, networking, research, standards development, advocacy, and innovation.  It will also work with global and regional industry trade associations to set policy that impacts the use of data and requires a technology platform with the industry segments its serves. 

The first annual meeting will be held at the FSTEC in New Orleans, Louisiana from 21 to 23 September 2014.
