IMCD acquires the business of Safic Pacific in Australia

IMCD Group, a leading global speciality chemicals and food ingredients company, has acquired the business of Safic Pacific Pty Ltd. The two companies are currently working closely together to ensure a smooth transition process to IMCD Australia. The transition period is expected to be complete by 1st December 2012.

Commenting on the new business acquisition, Russell McKay, Divisional Manager IMCD Australia, said: “This new business acquisition is in the line of IMCD’s expansion plans in the region, where we foresee tremendous prospects”.

To ensure smooth supply and transition, IMCD has been managing the importation, stocking and distribution of products to supply Safic Pacific’s existing customers in the rubber industries.

“IMCD and Safic Pacific will endeavour to make this a seamless transition. IMCD will make the products available from stocks held throughout Australia to minimise lead times for all our customers,” added Mr McKay.

This acquisition further enhances IMCD Australia’s comprehensive portfolio of products available to the rubber compounding market, with accelerators and antioxidants from MLPC International, factices from Lefrant Rubco, magnesium oxide from Intermag, millable polyurethane from TSE Industries, rubber processing aids from Performance Additives and a wide range of additives from Safic Alcan.

IMCD has been distributing chemicals in Australia and New Zealand since 1897 to the broad markets of filtration, food, performance products, plastics and rubber, petrochemicals and surface coatings.
