Indesso over the years

Indesso began as a producer and exporter of Eugenol from clove oil in 1992, and two years later it added natural extracts such as coffee, tea, and cocoa to its portfolio. In 2001, the company built what would be the only one of its kind in Indonesia, the Aroma Chemicals production facilities in Cileungsi (West Java) equipped with state-of-the-art extraction with recovery units and spray drying technology. In 2008, the company expanded its facilities with the Culinaroma Savoury Ingredients production. In 2011, it implemented double encapsulation technology (Naturarte) in botanical extracts and fruit juice powders. In 2013, it launched the Sweetaroma sweetener solution. In 2016, the company invested in a multistage spray dryer for producing its products in granule form. It started manufacturing the cheese powder Cheezaroma in the same year.

In 2017, Indesso completed the construction of its R&D center in Cileungsi, and now houses all its laboratories including those for MR-1 standard microbiology, advanced analysis QC, and biotechnology. Also in the same year, it opened a branch in Malaysia.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018, Indesso continues on its mission to develop Indonesian and Southeast Asian natural ingredients for creating new products for the food, flavor and fragrance markets. Its products are currently exported to 40 countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

In the future, the company will focus on botanical extract development, particularly coffee which is readily available in Indonesia, the fourth biggest coffee-producing country, noted Felix Zaldy, general manager of Indesso Food Ingredients. The company already has the manufacturing capability to develop further products from coffee. “Now we even have single origin coffee extracts such as Mandheling and Toraja, added Mr Zaldy.
