Number of visitors increase despite financial crunch

INDONESIA扴 food processing and packaging industry began to revive in 2004. The demand for food processing machinery with larger processing capacity is rising as small to medium sized companies are merging, increasing in size, and diversifying production. Indonesia imported $.247million worth of food processing and packaging equipment reached $322 million. There are no market barriers for food processing and packaging equipment imports in Indonesia. This opportunity is used by Kristamedia Pratama, PT with held an event with them 揑nterFood Indonesia 2009". InterFood Indonesia 2009 or the 9th International Exhibition on Food and Beverage Products, Technology, Ingredients, Additives, Raw Materials, Services, Equipments, Supplies was held on August 8-11 at Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Jakarta, Indonesia, from 9 am-7 pm. For four days, the food processing event hosted 14,537 visitors from many parts of Indonesia as well as overseas, including Australia, China Hong Kong, Taiwan, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, India and Viet Nam. These trade visitors were able to see exhibitions and technologies offered by 243 companies from 30 countries. This exhibition was opened by Cooperative State Minister & Small and Medium Enterprises / UKM (Usaha Kecil Menengah), Mr. Suryadharma Ali. The event had the support of the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Cooperatives & Small and Medium Enterprises, POM Agency for Drugs & Food RI, GAPMMI Association and the Association of Indonesian Jamu GP. InterFood Indonesia 2009 was divided into several segments, such as Bakery & Confectionery, Food & Hospitality, Food Ingredients, Herbal & Health Food, Food Franchising, and Business Opportunity. It was also held in cooperation with the Jakarta International Bakery Expo (JIBEX) 2009 and guided by Indonesia Bakery Association / ABI (Asosiasi Bakery Indonesia). JIBEX is bakery business development exhibition in Indonesia, which was marked by a variety of competitions for processing bread, cakes, and marketing snacks. Other competitive events were the Wedding Cake Competition, Anniversary Cake Competition, Pastry Show Piece, Variety of Traditional Mini Cakes, Hot Dog Eating Competition, Donut Eating Competition, Ice Cream Eating Competition and Sausage Juggling Competition. Various competitions and contests were also conducted in cooperation with Indonesia Associate Bakery / ABI (Asosiasi Bakery Indonesia). In addition to a variety of competitions and contests, in InterFood Indonesia 2009 also had several types of eminars, including the Herbal Seminar: 揙vercome The Kidney Disorders With Herbs? Food & Beverage Seminar: 揋ood Handling Practices and HACCP Quality Testing? and Bakery Seminar: 揝oft Bread Innovation and Strategic Business of International Bakery". InterFood Indonesia has become the strategic meeting point for Asia's food and beverage market.
