FORMED by the companies Orafti, Palatinit and Remy in 2007, BENEO Asia Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd is a 100% subsidiary of the Südzucker Group, which is Europe’s largest sugar manufacturer. The company produces functional food ingredients which it derives from chicory roots, sugar beet, rice, wheat and other natural products. These ingredients are incorporated in a number of beverages, baby food, dairy, baked goods, confectionery and cereals. Some manufacturers that work with BENEO are Kellogg, Nestlé and Quaker. Popular products like All Bran, Nestlé Plus and Quaker Oats contain the company’s oligofructose, whilst Gatorade, Ovaltinos and Vinamilk use Palatinose?.

In an interview with Food Pacific Manufacturing Journal, managing director for Asia-Pacific Koen Van Praet offers an overview of the ingredients industry in Asia and talks about his company’s products and ventures.
