Food Pacific Manufacturing Journal (FPMJ) had the opportunity to speak with Jeffrey Laurent of Ingredion at the 18th edition of the Food Ingredient Asia Conference which took place from 11 to 13 September, 2013 at BITEC in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr Laurent has been with Ingredion for over 30 years and holds the position of VP and general manager, Asia Pacific. He works out of the regional office of Ingredion in Singapore. Before taking his leadership role in Singapore, he held similar executive positions in Europe and Latin America.
Ingredion is one of the leading global ingredient solutions providers for the food, beverage, brewing and pharmaceutical industries, as well as numerous other industrial sectors. It officially launched the combination of two century-old, legacy brands of “National Starch” and “Corn Products International” under the name of their new global brand ‘Ingredion’ in Southeast Asia and their presence at Fi Asia 2013 is an endorsement of their commitment to region’s food manufacturers, and their readiness to continue to be a leader in the ASEAN markets. Ingredion distinguishes itself by being a diverse organisation that has the capability to deliver food ingredient solutions on a global scale with the ability to meet the needs of local markets.
Can you tell us a bit about what brought you to FI Asia 2013?
Since June of last year, we have been in the process of combining our brands National Starch and Corn Products International, and changing our name to Ingredion. We rolled out this new brand sequentially over an 18-month period since June 2012 and it will be completed globally by the end of 2013.
What are the special features of Ingredion’s products, and how are these different from those available in the market today?
