Interactive EMR for the iPad

Source: Release Date:2010-11-16 114
Software solution provider ClearPractice has released Nimble, a comprehensive electronic medical record (EMR) system specifically designed and developed for the Apple iPad. Nimble combines all the features of ClearPractice's software-as-a-service EMR with the intuitive interface of the iPad. Adoption of EMR software has historically been slow, as many traditional EMR systems often impede physician workflow, thus costing them both time and money. ClearPractice focused on eliminating this barrier by leveraging iPad to create an app that enhances the care delivery process whether in the exam room, hospital room or family room. "There are 560,000 office-based physicians in the United States. Seventy percent are in small practices, and most still use paper-based records," said John Doerr, venture capitalist and board member. "iPad will transform healthcare IT, and Nimble is the game changer: it gives doctors real-time information to better serve vital patient needs." Nimble is a comprehensive EMR solution that connects either through Wi-Fi or 3G to the ClearPractice cloud, so no data are stored on the device, making it secure and HIPAA compliant. The application contains all the features of the company's existing SaaS-based EMR solution, including scheduling, charting, prescribing, inpatient rounds, lab review/ordering and messaging. The product also seamlessly integrates with the company's practice management and billing system, so all charges are automatically captured, scrubbed and electronically submitted for payment. "We didn't just replicate our existing EMR system on iPad. We took the opportunity to rethink the EMR experience and do all the things we could never do via other devices or platforms," said Joel Andersen, president of ClearPractice. "Nimble provides doctors instant access to the critical information and patient care tools they need regardless of where or when that care takes place-the point of care is now everywhere." The following are a few of the many features included in Nimble: Patient Scheduling; Comprehensive Patient Charting; Template- Driven Progress Note Generation; Evidence- Based Decision Support; Lab Ordering and Results Review; Automated E&M Coding; Patient Flow Sheets; Patient Data Graphing; Health Maintenance/Disease Monitoring; PQRI Reporting; Medical Art; Electronic Prescribing; Refi II Requests; Inpatient Rounds and Charge Capture; Messaging. At the Office-The combination of Nimble's highly intuitive user interface and the simplicity of the iPad device makes it the ideal point-of-care EMR solution. With Nimble, doctors and medical staff have all the critical patient information they need right at their fingertips. Screening, documentation and ordering are quick and easy, helping to streamline patient care from check-in to check-out. With removal of the keyboard, mouse and monitor, the patient care experience is truly interactive, giving doctor and patient the personal interaction they both desire. At the Hospital-Say goodbye to lugging paper charts to and from the hospital or using cumbersome note cards to capture hospital charges. With Nimble, doctors have secure access to all their patient charts and helpful tools that facilitate patient care in the hospital or other inpatient settings. Admit patients, view and fax patient charts, access your rounds schedule, capture hospital charges, etc. At Home-For the majority of physicians, the work day doesn't end with the last patient appointment. Unfortunately, in paper-based offices or offices using traditional EMR systems, the doctor must stay in the office to complete their work. With Nimble, doctors now have the freedom to finish their work or handle emergency situations from the comfort of their home. Via Nimble, doctors can review and sign off on patient notes and diagnostic tests, read and respond to messages, write or refill prescriptions, admit patients,Sneakers Ash Shoes
