WOP Dubai, the leading exhibition for fresh produce in the Middle East runs on November 19 to 21, 2012 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It is the meeting place for manufacturers and buyers who would like to expand their markets for fresh fruits and vegetables in the Middle East and GCC. The three-day event is open to importers, exporters, wholesalers, retailers, hypermarkets, hotels and others interested in the industry. It will be attended by members of government and ministries, as well as specialised authorities who can orient visitors on the rules and regulations in fresh produce trade. Organisers say the show is bigger than in 2011 which was participated in by exhibitors from 18 countries. Meanwhile, visitors came from 54 countries.

In Dubai alone, the import of fresh produce grows by 16% annually. In 2010, Dubai imported 1.7 billion kg of fruits and vegetables amounting to about Dhs5.3 billion ($1.44 billion). Fresh fruits imported to Dubai has reached over 1.1 billion kg at a value of more than Dhs 4 billion and re-exported 463 million kgs valued nearly at Dhs 1.5 billion. Fresh vegetables of Dubai imports have also reached 590 million kg for Dhs1.3 b and re-exporting 53 million kg valued at Dhs118 million. For more information on the show, www.wop-dubai.com.
