Southeast Asia remains a lucrative growth market and this has been evident in the Manufacturing Expo 2012 which surpassed expectations as seen in the record high attendance despite the fact that the country was affected by widespread flooding in late 2011. The trade show, which took place on 21-24 June 2012 in Bangkok recorded 42,862 visitors, 5% above last year's statistics. The Manufacturing Expo 2012 is being praised by technology providers, technology enthusiasts and engineers as the leading business platform for business opportunities for sellers, buyers, subcontractors and agents.
The Manufacturing Expo consisted of InterPlas Thailand, InterMold Thailand, Automotive Manufacturing, and Assembly Technology. These trade exhibitions serve four of the manufacturing sectors including plastics and rubber, mould and die, automotive parts, and automation and assembly technologies. The main focus of InterPlas 2012 was on sustainability issues and the motto for the show this year was "Synergy for Growth". The Manufacturing Expo additionally featured a variety of industrial conferences and business enhancing activities such as the "NAO Humanoid Robot", the "Mould &Die Guru", the "Automotive Summit" and the "Surface & Coating Forum".
Broad range of equipment and tools
This year's Interplas Thailand saw the attendance of a growing number of suppliers of auxiliary equipment and tools for plastic processing.
Zambello Riduttori is a leading company which has exclusively manufactured speed reduction gearboxes since 1957. "Our biggest customers in the Asian market currently are machine makers in Taiwan and China," according to Tom Cho, Marketing & Service Executive. The company has relied heavily on research and development; and Zambello Riduttori now manufactures high-tech gearboxes derived from the careful selection of components and raw materials. When asked about what products they were promoting at the show, Mr. Cho specified that they brought in their gearboxes for single screw extruders ZPE, MZPE Series and the gearboxes for electric injection moulding machines MNP3 Series.
Mr. Cho continued, "These are our best selling machines; they allow the customer to have a safe and fast alternative to hydraulic motor systems. This is our first time at this show and we are looking forward to telling the end user about the benefits of our gearboxes, as well as the machine makers. If all goes well we look forward to coming back again next year to help consumers become more familiar with our brand".
InterPlas 2012 once again welcomed back Demage plastic machinery; also known as Zhoushan Demaji Twin Screw.
The company supplies double screw and barrel, with large-scale production of equipment and technology. It has built a reputation for providing fittings for machines to international and national machinery plants in China. Ms. Cancy Wei, who is a representative and Board Member was excited to be back in Thailand for the show.
Research and development are very important for Demage and it continues to work in conjunction with Swedish engineers. The original PTA nickel alloy spray welding technology is an example of this collaboration; as is the development of the company's popular wear resistant and high corrosion resistant series of quality screws. "The Bimetallic Screw & Barrel is our best selling product," according to Ms. Wei. "This is our second time at the show and we feel like coming here allows us to keep in touch with our customer base."
