Frutarom Switzerland Ltd. Health Business Unit has named Matthias H. Kreuter, Ph.D. as Global Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Frutarom BU Health, beginning January 1, 2015.
Dr Kreuter is known as the inventor of the Hyperpure Technology, a cross-flow membrane microfiltration process that eliminates lipophilic compounds from botanicals, without using solvents. He also developed the EFLA® Topline extracts. These were achieved during his time as head of the Pharmaceutical Business Division of Frutarom between 1990 and 2003. Moreover, he has 18 patents to his name.
Dr Kreuter has also written books and articles in scientific journals, Drug Research, Cell, Int. Journal of Oncology, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. He has a PhD in physiological chemistry and cancer pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany, and a degree in pharmacy, from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
As the CSO, his responsibilities lie in developing the company’s phytopharmaceutical business. He reports to Holger Riemensperger, general manager of the Global Business Unit, Health, for Frutarom.
