THE Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) said its deputy secretary Nguyen Quang Vinh and United Nations Global Business Coalition for Food Security representative Dr Puvan Jselvanathan have recently signed to initiate the Integrated Sustainable Agriculture Programme in Vietnam (ISAP) in Hanoi.
Dr Puvan highlighted the benefits that Global ISAP can bring to exporters, importers, distributors, and producers of agriculture as well as farmers at his speech during the ISAP Vietnam launching workshop.

ISAP is promoted by the UN to realize global millennium development goals, in particular toward boosting health and reducing poverty reduction. It is currently deployed in about 20 countries in the world.
The program, according to VCCI will establish and register free identifier codes called blue numbers for farmers. Farmers with blue number registration will be able to provide personal information as regards farming and production capacity such as product names and geographical indications. They also can indicate needs to find partners and product sales channels.
Blue number registration will likewise enable farmers to capture requirements and standards of products to plan production to meet market demands.
