International Plastics News – Middle East (IRNE) gathered the insights of Mr. Jaffar H. Al-Salman, CEO of Cast-Tek (Bahrain Metal & Plastic Casting Factory) on the company’s role in promoting efficient industrial operations.

IRNE: How would you describe Cast-Tek’s role in the region today?
Mr. Al-Salman: With the continuing growth of the manufacturing industry in the Gulf region, majority of production components are still imported. This scenario gave us a bright idea to set up our company in 1999.

Cast-Tek is a Bahrain-based company established with the objective of achieving national self-reliance and pushing for import substitution by acquiring and integrating the latest technologies with Bahrain’s own technical resources. 
 
The company manufactures products made of hard plastic components with high precision and close tolerance compatible to the original parts. Our target market is purely local companies in our country from manufacturers to assemblers with focus on lower inventory level requirement and less lead time from placing your order. We can immediately deliver once the sample and drawing are submitted to us, thus allowing for lesser time and less documentation process in obtaining the parts. We also guarantee lower costs since we manufacture the customer’s requirement equipment parts and spare parts here in Bahrain.

More important, we encourage import substitution since the customer no longer need to import or order spare parts from abroad, or require equipment parts from the country of origin because we can duplicate similar parts.

IRNE: What makes your operations highly competitive?
Mr. Al-Salman: Cast-Tek can provide the requirement of our customer for any equipment parts or spare parts in a matter of days and these parts can be used immediately to ensure consistency and uninterrupted production cycle. For as long  as we have a sample or pattern/design to follow, it is very easy for us to produce in accordance to our customer’s specific needs.

Another advantage is that the client bank on us is the after sales service follow-up. We see to it that the parts we produce work smoothly and meet customers’ satisfaction.

IRNE: What are the current trends in the market you serve and how do these trends affect your operations?
Mr. Al-Salman: Cast-Tek uses the latest casting technology and development techniques to deliver excellence right from the drawing board.

We use fast-setting cast table thermoset plastics like polyester, polyurethane and epoxies with similar properties of injection moulded thermoset plastic parts made of PVC, PP, PE and other materials. This is ideal for tough operations and for turning out non-available parts. Another one is zinc bases alloy with identical strength and possessing other properties similar to conventional spare parts.
