JEBEL Ali Free Zone (Jafza), Dubai’s flagship free zone business, will showcase its capabilities as the trade and logistics hub for the food and beverage industry at the Gulfood 2015.
One highlight of Jafza’s Gulfood presentation will be the business community development’s plan to build a Halal Zone in the Free Zone to serve international markets. Another Halal Zone is planned for its sister company TechnoPark to serve the local and GCC markets.
Jafza noted the significant increase in demand for food and beverages facilities at the Free Zone in 2014. High-quality custom-built storage and manufacturing infrastructure solutions at the Free Zone fuelled the rise in demand.
Jafza has been one of the key drivers of the thriving economies of Dubai and the UAE, bringing in foreign direct investment and positioning the emirate as the global and regional hub for international trade. In the F&B market, Jafza currently hosts more than 500 leading multinationals, including Unilever, Heinz, Kraft, P&G, PepsiCo, and Gulf Food Industries. These companies serve more than 2 billion people in the wider Middle East region comprising South and West Asia, Africa, and the CIS from their Jafza base. The Free Zone’s strategic location between Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport provides players in the F&B sector speed to market, a key ingredient for continued growth.
The food and beverage sector at the Free Zone is expected to double its 2013 trade volume of AED 15.50 billion in the next five years.
