The Philippines’ leading fast-food restaurant chain, Jollibee, is expected to open new outlets in the United Arab Emirates, following the announcement of a joint-venture between Golden Plate Pte Ltd (GPPL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Jollibee Foods Corp (JFC) in the Philippines, and Golden Crown Foods LLC (GCFL) in Dubai. The disclosure released by Jollibee to the Philippine Stock Exchange states that GPPL will own 49% of the firm, and GCFL 51%, However, both will have equal control and management of the company.
JFC has 42 outlets in the Middle East, including 16 Jollibee restaurants in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, and 26 Chowking restaurants in Qatar, Oman and the UAE.
According to a report in Business World, JFC has witnessed 26% growth, from PhP3.712 billion in 2012 to PhP4.694 billion in 2013. The fast-food giant plans to invest some PhP6.3 billion in new store opening and renovations this year.
