At K 2013, Baerlocher presented its range of additives for the plastics industry. The company’s offerings include a very broad range of stabilizers as well as other additives for all polymer applications. Baerlocher’s operations worldwide are characterized by a strong customer and employee orientation, as well as innovation and sustainability. Continued leadership in innovation is demonstrated by Baerlocher’s support to the PVC industry in the transition from lead- to calcium-based stabilizers as well as by the innovative lubricant systems for wood plastic composites.
“The Baerlocher group of companies has manufacturing sites around the globe and operates a sales network covering all major countries in various regions,” according to its CEO, Mr. Arne Schulle. The past few years saw the company investing in various facilities to upgrade the quality of its products and services, and to enable it to constantly serve its growing number of customers worldwide. “To date we have 14 production facilities. Our products are customized, which means that these are produced in accordance with our customers’ demands and requirements.” Mr. Schulle stressed.
Baerlocher’s significant investments are reflected in its new and advanced facilities. The company opened a production facility in China last year. The plant, wholly owned by Baerlocher, can reach up to a capacity of 40,000 tons annually and capable of producing Ca-based and Pb-based-stabilizer systems. The operation is supported by a state-of-the-art” application laboratory. The project, which is the biggest investment of the Baerlocher Group of Companies during the past five years, is located in Changzhou, Province Jiangsu.
“In the United States, Baerlocher also opened a new laboratory. With this move, the company accommodates the vital U.S. market and directly provides its vast know-how in the formulation of customized additive systems to the U.S. plastics industry,” Mr. Schulle adds. For almost a quarter-century, Baerlocher has maintained production facilities in the U.S. Since 2002, the Baerlocher Production USA LLCC has been located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Baerlocher USA has extensive technical know-how in the fields of PVC stabilizers and metallic stearates as well as with all polymer additives.
The company is now expanding in the U.S. market with a new cutting-edge laboratory capable of simulating customer production processes and the evaluation of critical raw materials. This lab will support the American plastics industry with the development of highly customized additive systems tailored to specific customer needs.
“We are very optimistic on the markets outside Europe. In particular, China, India, Southeast Asia, U.S. and South America are promising markets for Baerlocher’s products and services. In places where we don’t have our own facilities, we have partnered with local companies to ensure that we expand our market reach,” according to Mr. Schulle.
