K 2013: ColorMatrix to launch new liquid dosing system

ColorMatrix, a subsidiary of PolyOne Corporation and a global leader in liquid color and additives for plastics, announced the global launch of its latest generation FlexCart? proprietary liquid dosing system. FlexCart? accommodates a wide range of global packaging and pump variations to help eliminate the need for additional dosing equipment. Additionally, FlexCart? allows for clean and spill-free operation, enhanced metering accuracy and minimal waste to improve production efficiency and sustainability for processors.

Working together with customers to understand their critical needs was the foundation of the company’s redesign process, according to Harry Baker, director of equipment development and technology, ColorMatrix. The company needed to provide a system with a highly flexible modular base unit that could house a range of globally standardized components and could also be tailored to meet customers specific requirements.

In the new system, flexibility is achieved through easily interchangeable dosing pumps, transfer pumps and packaging types suitable for a wide variety of applications. New and improved packaging cassettes and pump connectors enable quick, spill-free product changeovers without the need for tools resulting in minimal downtime.

When used in conjunction with ColorMatrix packaging, FlexCart? delivers product recovery rates of up to 99%, reducing material waste and improving sustainability for a maximum return on materials cost. The ergonomic, modular design offers easy on-site maintenance and minimized part count, simplifying both the initial specification and part replacement process.
