K 2013: More than 23,000 visitors on day 1

The attraction of the plastic industry's leading trade show in Düsseldorf continues to lure professionals from across the globe, the international media and prominent politicians alike.

The first day of K 2013 saw more than 23,000 visitors pass through its doors 16 October, matching the first day totals from the previous event, held in 2010. The mood has been good and discussions lively despite the rather crisp autumn temperatures and very cloudy skies outside.

Germany's former minister of foreign affairs, Joschka Fischer, was on hand to provide opening remarks at the kick-off of the special exhibition, "Plastics move the world“, sponsored by PlasticsEurope Deutschland. The focus of his speech was plastics and sustainability.
