K 2013: ROEMHELD satisfied with response on its quick mould clamping system

At K trade fair, ROEMHELD presented various innovations and a wide range of components for rapid and efficient mould and die change. Andreas Reich, Head of Quick Die Clamping Technology, was very satisfied with the positive feedback of visitors and the quality of discussions at the new stand. A part from innovations around magnetic technology and a new mould change carriage, a main focus was on already proven hydraulic quick-action elements.

A new generation of magnetic clamping plates combines long poles and square poles. In this way, the new series integrates the benefits of both technologies: the high force concentration of long poles and the cost-efficient design of square poles. Tools and dies do no longer have to be standardized to be used on machines, for the new magnetic clamping plates allow for the rapid, safe and precise clamping of almost any sizes, geometries and weights. The new quick-action clamping systems are suitable for operating temperatures of up to 240°C for both vertical and horizontal application. They may easily be installed on most machine types and there is little difficulty for retrofitting.

Other innovations for magnetic clamping systems supplemented the trade fair presentation. A force sensor for remote maintenance and machine monitoring was presented for the first time. Data on effective clamping forces at the magnetic clamping plate are transmitted to other output devices by WLAN. An easily comprehensible menu guides the user who may call the latest 300 operations on the clamping tool. The control instrument is offered with the optional new magnetic plate control for vertical presses and large injection moulding machines. This meets the highest safety requirements for relevant signals such as power supply, emergency stop and performance levels "d" and "e" of pressing standards EN201 and EN289.

In addition, hydraulic clamping elements such as hollow-piston cylinders, plug-in clamps, angle clamps and wedge clamps were in demand at the trade fair stand. According to Andreas Reich, ROEMHELD envision themselves as one of the most successful providers worldwide in this field, since they have offered an enormous and innovative range for many years. He claimed that users particularly appreciate the high process safety provided by the hydraulic clamping elements, since the clamping force may be continuously monitored and controlled and the tooling procedure may easily be automated with them.
