Kaohsiung Food, HORECA mark successful joint run

THIS year’s Kaohsiung Food Show (Kaohsiung Food) and Kaohsiung Int'l Hotel, Restaurant, Baking and Catering Show (HORECA), held from 5-8 November, closed on a high note, registering a 100% increase in exhibitors and a 27% jump in buyer attendance compared with the previous year.

The joint events gathered together 366 companies for a total of 750 booths. More than 6,000 buyers from the Asia-Pacific region attended the events. The top five buyer segments came from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

One feature event alone, Food Sourcing in Taiwan 2015, generated a total value of nearly US$20 million. For this, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) invited 41 key buyers from 17 markets to lead more than 400 trade talks.

Meanwhile, Food Sourcing helped global visitors in their sourcing requirements. The one-on-one sessions established connections among the best in the trade from the UK, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, Romania, Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, China, and Hong Kong.

The trade events were organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) with support from TAITRA. The next edition will be held from 27 -30 October 2016 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center.
