KETRON 1000 PEEK (natural) extruded plates, rods, and tubes from Quadrant EPP have recently achieved NORSOK M-710 compliance. This new compliance qualifies the resin and the process and machinery used by the company in converting polyetheretherketone (PEEK) into semifinished products.

All tested materials passed the various NORSOK M-710 criteria, which include swell, Young’s Modulus, and visual inspection. Samples machined from the shapes also performed successfully when exposed to 10% hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in 100% gas phase per the ISO 23936-2:2011 standard. From the results, the Ketron 1000 PEEK extruded plate, rod, and tube were certified by the qualifying institute, Element Materials Technology, as resistant to 10% H2S sour gas at up to 200°C temperature.
A major accomplishment in line with preparation for future ISO 23936-1 standards, this achievement follows last year’s success in obtaining the NORSOK M-210 multiphase compliance for the Ketron 1000 PEEK.

With NORSOK M-710 Rev3 not yet released and ISO 23936-1 being revised, the firm exposed the PEEK material to severe conditions as indicated in the latest draft versions of NORSOK M-710 Rev3 and ISO 23936-2:2011. The machined test bars were exposed to 10% H2S in 100% gas phase, which are five times harsher than the sour gas phase described in NORSOK M-710 Rev2.
