KraussMaffei in Japan celebrates 10 years of operation

The KraussMaffei plant at Aichi, Japan is celebrating 10 years of operations this spring. Since it was founded in 2006, the Reaction Process Machinery subsidiary of KraussMaffei has enjoyed continuous growth and has become established on the market as a leading supplier of premium quality products and reliable services, particularly in the field of polyurethane soft foam systems and composites solutions.

In Japan, KraussMaffei primarily serves customers in the automotive industry with its extensive portfolio of reaction process machinery. A focus here is the field of soft foam systems where the company supplies  complete turnkey systems for manufacturing foamed seats, head restraints and other components for the vehicle interior, according to  Tetsuhiro Hori, managing director of the Japanese subsidiary. In so doing, he and his staff perform their own customer-specific developments. Just one example of the latest technical innovations is a seat cushion oval conveyor system with automatic mold change facility in which only the mold is changed, eliminating the need for additional cassettes.

KraussMaffei's second area of focus is the growing market for fiber-reinforced plastics. Interest in production-ready solutions for processing fiber-reinforced plastics, especially carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) continues to grow rapidly and KraussMaffei Japan is currently in contact with all Japanese automobile manufacturers, Mr. Hori said.  Since 2015, KraussMaffei has also been producing customer-specific HP-RTM (High-Pressure Resin Transfer Molding) systems in Japan.
