On November 12, KraussMaffeei announced the closure of its plant in Germany as part of the plan to move its production of small to medium-sized injection molding machines and extruders to its other plants in Germany and Slovakia to stay competitive. The Treuchtlingen facility produces components for small- to mid-sized injection moulding machines and extruders, including injection units, machine housings, barrels, hydraulic pistons and motor flanges.
But after talks with the IG Metall trade union, the company decided not to proceed with the closure of the Treuchtlingen production facility.
As announced by Jan Siebert, CEO, there will be no involuntary redundancy notices up to December 31, 2015. The two parties also agreed to implement a 38-hour work week starting next week.
