Saudi Arabia’s food consumption is expected to rise 55.3% in the next two years

THE Kingdom of Saudi Arabia imports nearly 70% of its food & beverage products. In recent years, shipments to the Kingdom have increased considerably, most especially for packaged and processed food products that cater to young consumers. This trend is likely to continue as economic and population growth will fuel demand for food. Consumption is forecast to increase 55.3% to $113 billion by 2016.

Categories such as sweets, snacks, chocolates and healthy products, are among the most featured products at Saudi Agro-Food 2014. The fair took place from 7-10 September 2014 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center. The show was held concurrently with Saudi Agriculture 2014, the 33rd international agriculture, water and agro-trade industry show, and Saudi Food-Pack 2014, the 4th international trade exhibition for food processing and packaging technologies.

Last year, over 8,000 delegates came to the event, with majority coming from India, the UAE, Turkey and the United States. Organisers said 173 exhibitors from all around the globe took part in Saudi Agro-Food, which remains one of KSA’s busiest trade exhibitions.Mercurial Superfly High
