Field teams keep watchful eye on vendors

IN NARJAN, Saudi Arabia, large quantities of chicken unfit for human consumption were recently seized by field teams of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, just in time before they reached restaurants and stores. The sellers were caught loading the plastic-wrapped chickens in trucks, according to the Saudi Press Agency. In another store, the teams apprehended sellers of expired food.

The Ministry is making it known that it continues to crack down on food vendors who have disregard for health and sanitation laws, and its teams make the rounds in markets, food warehouses, shops and commercial establishments to ensure that businesses comply with health specifications and avoid fraudulent practices. They are keeping a watchful eye on those who may manipulate consumers or buy/sell expired products. Consumers are urged to report violators at this toll free number: 800 124 1616800 124 1616.
