THE Republic of Chad and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signed a loan agreement for Chad’s Rice Production Development Project in the Plain of Chari-Logone. The Kuwait Fund will loan 4 million Kuwaiti Dinars (about US$13.6 million) to Chad, according to a report in AllAfrica.com.
Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Noor, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Chad and Mr. Hamad S. Al-Omar, Deputy Director-General of the Kuwait Fund signed the agreement in the presence of Mr Thamer Al-Failakawi, Regional Manager for West African Countries, in N’Djamena, Chad.
According to the report, the project will assist in development of water irrigation of 400 hectares of agricultural lands for rice and crops in Chari-Logone Plain at Sahr Governorate. The project will boost economic and social development and food security in the country.
