LAMB Weston/Meijer, a joint venture between US-based ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston and Netherlands-based Meijer Frozen Food will increase its production capacity for frozen potato products by 2016. This as it expands its facility in Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands, for an investment of about $150 million. Some 50 new jobs will be created.
ConAgra Foods is positioning its business to meet increasing demand for frozen potato products, which is set to grow by 1.8 billion pounds between 2013 and 2018, according to Euromonitor.
In October, ConAgra Foods acquired a frozen potato facility in Shangdu, Inner Mongolia, whilst in June, it expanded its frozen potato facility in Boardman, Oregon, for both local and international customers.
