LANXESS HQ now in Cologne

Source:Lanxess AG Release Date:2013-09-04 281
Plastics & Rubber
About 1,000 employees of LANXESS are now working in the new LANXESS Tower. Official opening ceremony held on September 3

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS relocated its group headquarters and approximately 1,000 employees to the LANXESS Tower in Cologne. The move means that the company’s global operations are now managed from the largest city in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The new company headquarters was officially entered in the trade register on August 1, 2013.

"We have found an ideal location for LANXESS in Cologne, and really looked forward to moving to our new home city," said Axel C. Heitmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of LANXESS AG. Cologne, continued Heitmann, not only has an infrastructure unique in North Rhine-Westphalia with excellent transport connections, it is also a renowned academic and research center and, as such, an enormous attraction for top talent. “The high cost-efficiency of the new company Headquarters and the benefits of Cologne as a location will assist us in our course of growth.”

“The building was completely modernized. It became one of the most energy-efficient buildings in Germany,” stated Heitmann. The LANXESS Tower reaches a height of approximately 100 meters and has a total of 22 stories that offer some 38,500 square meters of floor space.

The LANXESS Tower symbolizes sustainable and responsible architecture and satisfies stringent international environmental and energy efficiency standards. For example, as early as February 2010, the building – as part of the maxCologne office complex – was awarded a preliminary gold certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Special construction measures include using groundwater for cooling and heating, building with ecological construction materials that are low in pollutants, incorporating cutting-edge facades with triple glazing and significantly lowering the primary energy requirements during live operation. All these measures help to safeguard resources and deliver a sharp reduction in operating costs.
