LANXESS to open new Asia-Pacific Application Development Center

LANXESS has declared 2012 the Year of "Green Mobility", highlighting the premium products the specialty chemicals group develops to enable a more environmentally-friendly mobility.  As part of this themed year, LANXESS business units Semi-Crystalline Products (SCP), Inorganic Pigments (IPG), Rhein Chemie (RCH) and Functional Chemicals (FCC) are displaying their state-of-the-art and innovative solutions at the Chinaplas 2012 trade fair from April 18-21 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong.   Visitors to the LANXESS’ booth can find out how four of its business units serve the plastics market.  LANXESS supplies customers throughout the world with high-performance materials that help ensure sustainable and green mobility.
 
To reinforce collaboration with customers and demonstrate its rapidly increasing commitment to the Asia region, LANXESS announced it will open a new Asia-Pacific Application Development Center during Chinaplas 2012.  This new center will be located in the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park and will start up in the second half of 2012.  Hong Kong will become a technology hub for LANXESS’ Durethan and Pocan high-performance plastics by offering a comprehensive, high-value technology package including CAD and CAE facilities and a world-class parts testing center to all customers in the Asia-Pacific region. 
 
“This application center represents our intention to be an active, eager partner with researchers, producers and customers.  It will complement our R&D center we already have in Wuxi to develop and evaluate materials solutions used in the automotive industry,” said Martin Kraemer, CEO of LANXESS Greater China.
 
LANXESS was honored with the green innovation awards 2012 by Plastic Technology China in the engineering plastics market for its high-performance Durethan and Pocan.  These advanced products play a vital role in the design of more environmentally responsible cars. By replacing metal components, they make cars lighter, and thus contribute to fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. In addition, Durethan and Pocan enable carmakers and car parts suppliers to achieve considerable savings through easier assembly.
 
Aside from the automotive segment, LANXESS has a variety of offerings for high-tech plastics solutions for a wide range of industries.  According to Kraemer, “with our cutting edge products and solutions, we are determined to help make green mobility happen here.  Our high performance materials, inorganic pigments, functional chemicals and additives are bringing added value for fuel efficiency and environmental performance.”
 
This year, LANXESS is focusing its activities on the core strategic subject of Green Mobility. The aim of the campaign is to focus on innovative technologies and products with which the specialty chemicals group can help to enable resource-saving, environmentally friendly, sustainable mobility. This includes such things as lightweight construction concepts for body parts and high-performance rubber for the manufacture of fuel-saving Green Tires.
