Chanel Patents Cosmetic with Anhydrous Gel

US Patent No. 8,535,649 B2; Chanel Parfums Beaute, Neuilly sur Seine, France, has patented cosmetic composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium, at least one anhydrous gel having a viscosity of at least 180,000 cP·s at 25°C, which includes at least one oil and at least one copolymer of styrene and at least one olefin other than styrene; at least one ester obtained from a saturated or unsaturated and linear or branched aliphatic acid or hydroxy acid having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms, a linear or branched diacid having from 12 to 36 carbon atoms, and glycerol or a glycerol condensate; and optionally at most 10% by weight of wax(es).

 

Soap- and Foam-Free Gel Patented by L’Oréal

US Patent No. 8,535,652 B2; L’Oréal, Paris, has patented a soap-free, self-foaming gel packaged in an aerosol container with a piston or flexible pocket separator to separate the gel from propellant necessary for ejecting the gel. The gel comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one aqueous phase; at least one N-acylsarcosine where the acyl radical is a C10-C20 radical; at least one mineral or organic base in an amount sufficient to dissolve the N-acylsarcosine and produce a pH of 4 to 8; at least one alkylbetaine; at least one nonionic surfactant; and at least one self-foaming agent. The gel is soap-free and is substantially foam-free until it is spread onto the skin, at which time it foams by evaporation of the self-foaming agent.
