In preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, the Japan-based confectionery and snack company, Lotte, put up an export centre in Chon Buri, Thailand. The 9.6-hectare site which cost over Bt1-billion, is located in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, and will be the base for the company’s chewing gum and cookies (Koala’s March).
Thailand was chosen for its growth potential. According to Toshifumi Kojima, managing director of Thai Lotte Co, the country has the human resources, advanced technology, exporting capacity and infrastructure that Lotte needs for its expansion. The new base will serve Southeast Asian markets.
Thai Lotte operates two plants in Chon Buri - one at Sriracha Industrial Estate for chewing gum and confectionery products and the other at Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate for cookies. -The Nation via Propak China
