Luren is one of the iconic machine tool manufacturer/ gear tool manufacturers who participated at the Taiwan machine tool in aerospace application forum. Luren has long been in close corporation with ITRI, Taiwan (the Industrial Research Institute) since its establishment. Being involved in an enormously specialized field of metalworking, President Chuck Chen reiterated the research-oriented foundation of the company, and introduced a number of innovative machineries that can represent the latest research result of Luren. These machineries include but not limited to the CNC Universal Gear Tool Grinding Machine LUG-3040, Continuous Generating Gear Grinding Machine LGA-2812 as well as Hobs and Shaving Cutters that had been awarded the Taiwan Excellence Award in 2011.
Dr.Gerald Kuo explained that the special technique that helps Luren maintain its position as the top grinding machine provider in Asia – which is recently facilitating the latest technology of ‘profile grinder engineering’. The LFG-8040 Vertical Gear Profile Grinding Machine carries this technology. Its features and capacity in manufacturing exist in its intelligence and solidity in production. LFG-8040 integrates with PC by embedding Luren’s unique software program that generate accurate manufacturing by simple data input. The profile grinding technology is also driven by direct torque motor, and motor built-in spindle. In short, the high capacity of the machine packed several essential procedures in grinding and precisely supply users satisfactory quality products with high efficiency. This machine along with Luren’s key machinery models as mentioned above have made IMTS a more dynamic arena seeing presentations as such that are original.

Being at the forefront of the grinding industry, Dr. Gerald Kuo is confident to state that Luren faces no technical challenges regarding to their machineries, rather, a genuine problem of accumulating customer base in the U.S. being a Taiwanese-origin company. The company is working from the grass root to gain profile among potential customers, and actively participating in exhibitions to exchange insightful market information in order to quickly transfer Luren’s image to the new market.
Luren has done a quite impressive effort in showcasing the company at IMTS 2016. Apart from the Taiwan machine tool in aerospace application forum, Luren was also one of the iconic speakers at the press conference organized by TAITRA on 14th of September.
President Chuck Chen shared with us on his instant reflection on IMTS 2016 as well as the forum. He told us that there might be strategies for the Taiwan machine tool manufacturers and gear tool supplier in coming together to access the U.S. transmission market, which includes cooperation strategies. For example, the idea of combining Luren’s gear cutting tools with Tongtai’s machine tools to construct a high-end production line might be one of the possibilities to joint the strengths of Taiwanese machineries, for the welfare of the customers.
The key areas that Luren targeted at the American market are gear manufacturers, transmission, electronic power system and gear reducer manufacturers. Dr. Gerald Kuo remarked on the continuous development that Luren is committed in. In short, the latest technology such as additive manufacturing, they are on the process of testing the feasibility of additive Carbide Hobs(s) – which would help them create a huger range of customers – from the higher-end to middle-and low end level in manufacturing. Dr. Gerald Kuo explained clearly that Luren’s Carbide Hobs(s) can substantially shorten the process from 90 days to one week, which would be very attractive for many users. Thus, detailed examinations and statistics on how the quality would compare to the original work pieces are still under experiment. But this certainly serves as one of the examples that Luren keep motivates itself, being a gear tool manufacturer who does not settle.
