TARGETED at the China and Japan markets, MacaUp energy bar is made from the highly nutritious maca plant. Specifically, this plant is popular for its ability to boost the immune system, athletic performance, stamina, energy memory, sexual arousal, and fertility.
Grown in small farms in Peru, the maca is then dried, ground up, and brought to ISGP’s processing plant. Productos Naturales Govinda S.A.C. (PNG) handles production in Peru, and products are shipped to the company’s distribution center in China, said Frank Rhodes, CEO of International Sustainability Group Inc. (OTC Pink: ISGP), the company that makes the new product.
With the MacaUp energy bar, ISGP is in a better position to meet growing demand in China and Japan for maca. Buyer interest in China in particular has been rising strongly, based on a report from the Wall Street Journal. Legal maca exports to China hit $6 million by September compared with $540,000 for all of 2013, according to Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
ISGP took advantage of its connections in Peru to conduct research and develop a new nutritional bar. According to ISGP vice chairman Robert Tanko, “The ISGP research team has found widespread use of maca in the marketplace in both Japan and China, where both countries have increased their use of maca tremendously due to the many outstanding health benefits Maca offers.”
Mr Tanka added that the company plans to continue developing additional nutritional and wholesome products for its customers.
