MacDermid completes major expansion of Japan facility

MacDermid Performance Solutions, a division of Platform Specialty Products Corporation, has completed a major expansion of its facility in Japan.  The state-of-the-art R&D facility is located in Hiratsuka City and now equipped with enhanced capabilities to accommodate the changing needs of Japanese customers of both plating chemistry and assembly materials. This expansion dramatically increases the scope and speed of its ability to deliver technical services to its clients.

"We are thrilled to be better able to serve our clients, ranging from printed circuit board manufacturers to automotive parts suppliers, through our long-term commitment exemplified by this expansion as well as the immediate positive impact it will have on customer service,” stated Julian Bashore, General Manager of the MacDermid Enthone business in Japan.  According to Mr. Bashore, the  new location for MacDermid Enthone presents synergistic opportunities and allows the company to conclude a lease in another city where it did not have the flexibility to grow.

The 30,000 square feet facility, which first opened as a greenfield site in 1998, is now the permanent home for Alpha Assembly Solutions, MacDermid Enthone Electronics Solutions, and MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions. These group of businesses was formally created in December 2015 when the new MacDermid Performance Solutions brand was launched.

According to Goro Yoshinari, General Manager of the Alpha Assembly Solutions business in Japan, the three companies under one roof, leads to combined strengths to capture more new business from Japanese manufacturers of semiconductors, LEDs and automotive parts.
