Machinery and Technology Outlook: Lucrative market for fully-integrated systems

Turnkey systems with maximum output at lowest production costs are seeing increased demand in 2013. These systems will become one of the major products the MENA region will demand from machinery manufacturers. The KraussMaffei Group sees the Middle East and Africa as very important region, with huge potential that can't be ignored.

"In the Middle East, there is a big market potential with substantial demand for products used in the construction industry. This potential demand is seen both in the Middle East and in the emerging countries of the African continent. We are also hoping that the market in North African countries will recover soon from political troubles," Dr. Hans Ulrich Golz, Managing Director and President of the injection moulding machinery segment of KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH. Mr. Golz also stressed that the rapid industrial expansion within the Gulf States and the continued international demand to make use of the region's natural resources have made the Middle East and North Africa an important strategic market for the Group's compounding and sheet extrusion technology.

KraussMaffei Berstorff Pipe Extrusion expects its pipe extrusion lines to gain headway as the region raises its plastic pipes production. "There is a growing demand for our extrusion lines for producing extra-large PO pipes (especially equipped with the IPC technology), as well as on multilayer PO pipes in the diameter range of 10-63 mm for fresh water applications. We have also realised a positive trend in the field of C-PVC pipe extrusion systems in the Middle East regions; however in Africa the trend is going to PP-R and PP composite pipes," according to Mr. Golz.

KraussMaffei Reaction Process Machinery segment President Nicolas Beyl expects the company's various products to meet growing competition given the highly diversified and fast-growing sectors within the plastics industry in the region. "KraussMaffei Reaction process machinery lines which include the Eco-Star mixing and dosing unit, the compact polyurethane metering machine are targeted to meet the MENA region's robust demand for such systems. The compact design ensures low space requirements, easy transportation and fast commissioning, and guarantees low investment costs – all of which are major considerations amongst plastics processors," Mr. Beyl explains.

The company is also seeing promising demand in the MENA region for its new GX-range with MC6 controller and fully integrated robot systems for injection moulding, the three multi-purpose product lines - SynErgy, ELION and EVOS - from Netstal, the twin-screw extruder ZE Basic and the flat sheet extrusion system.
